History: Pride/Queery Universe
|
|
|
Launched
only a year after Dreamscape, Pride! was Worldsaways
first adult world, targeted towards the LGBT community.
Sadly, the world proved to be very unpopular.
For example, you would only ever find twenty people
inworld (at the most) at any given time.
Maybe its unpopularity was because the concept of a
big gay spaceship
seemed stupid to many people.
Filled
to the brim with... um.. compliments and dirty vendo
items, Pride certainly separated itself from the rest
of Worldsaway. For example, would you move locales in
Dreamscape and expect to find the message "My oh
my, you are looking gay today!" ?
Although
the whole 'i'm gay and living on a spaceship' concept
was terrible, the locale designs were actually very
good. There were underground caverns, gardens, wedding
chapels, malls and observation decks, all accessible
from the main hallway of the spaceship. The main hallway
featured a series of doors which took you to the most
important locales, such as vendos and the turf manager.
This hallway went round in circles and made it quite
difficult to find your way around as a newbie. In the
center of the hallway (where is the center!?) there
was a door which took you to the underground, wedding
chapels..etc... These were also accessible from the
newly implemented down arrows, placed in each hallway
locale.

Pride!Universe
Map
Pride
was the first world to introduce the famous Worldsaway
UFO. The UFO can now be found in every world except
for Sedu... but considering the UFO came from Pride,
you have to wonder now, what the eye is really
spraying at people!
Pride
had some of the most original vendo items out there!
For example, you could buy a cyborg to sit at a desk,
in your turf (like the Sci-Fi Spaceship manager). You
could also buy nekkie statues to make your garden locales
perfect, and huge planets to make your space locales
more 'spacey'.
Pride
was also the first world to introduce the idea of furnished
turfs to Worldsaway. Thats right, the idea wasnt exclusive
when Club Connect first opened! Although not much, the
furnished turfs did offer you a nice space view in your
lounge room.
Around
the time when Club Connect became New Radio World, Pride
became Queery Universe - the same world, with a different
name!
Overall, Pride/Queery was a very misunderstood world.
Although this place was intended for gay people,
you would usually find many straight people there too.
Also, Pride brought some of the best ideas to VZones
for the first time! Seducity was practically
based on this idea, but TPTB decided to make it suitable
for all ages and sexualities, giving you a more versaitile
world with a greater community.
Queery
Universe closed its doors forever on 20th November 2000.
The citizens of Queery were offered free 6 month accounts
in either VZC or Dreamscape (their choice) and Queery
was abandoned. If you try the Queery Universe website
(www.queeryuniverse.com), it will redirect you to Seducity.
