NH is the only world in the softwares history that has transformed so much in its existance...

Club Connect

Club Connect opened in July 1998 after months of waiting and anticipation coming from Worldsaway.com. This world was meant to be an adult world (NOT like Seducity) where people could sit down and chat, get to know each other and perhaps form a relationship. In its early days, Club Connect was lucky if it got 10 people inworld at any one time... but things soon picked up.
For about two months the adults only rule was enforced, but was later dumped, much to the delight of others.

Club Connect was packed with original artwork and locales, including the famous Village Porch and shopping areas dotted around town. The city layout went something like:

NW Corner Garden
Village Apartments
NE Corner Garden
Cafe D'Armore
Park
Little Shop of Essence
Hot Tubs
Park
Face Value
Event Center
Park
Body Shop
Net Noir
CC Entrance
Libary

The three park locales were given individual names like Park of Serenity, Park of Promise etc but were later renamed to Promise Park.
The Little Shop of Essence was a small shop that sold spray cans and accessories, Face Value sold heads, Body Shop sold bodies (not dead), Event Center was a stage locale/knicknack store, Hot Tubs were general chat locales, Cafe D'Armore was a great coffeehouse locale, Net Noir was a bar and the Libary was a building with a great auditorium and frequent author chats.

The right side of Club Connect was extended to reveal a HUGE complex for XOOM.COM and an area called Metaphysical Courtyard which housed Astrology.net and other partner locales.

Topiary Park was linked beneath the XOOM locales as a set of chat locales, with an Under Construction road block at the end.

In the early days of Club Connect, Role Play was introduced very much like Hotel Silicon and Dreamscape, although the scale of it was more relative to Hotel. The main sign of this was during Halloween 98, when all the guides were turned into cats (animal heads werent in the vendos yet) and Caretaker John entered a mysterious portal... only to return one week later with a further portal leading to the Halloween 1998 locales.

Caretaker John got lost in a strange dimension shortly after Halloween, and was never seen again.
Fight the Addiction day saw the introduction of the first real sexual material in VZones, in the form of an adult only area featuring drug vendos, mild fetish items (black masks) and drinks. The turf had 7 rooms, and the seventh was a dungeon locale with chains, very much like the Dom Den locale in Seducity. Yes, there was a tiny bit of Seducity in Club Connect for a little while!

New Radio World

When Hotel Silicon closed down, it was moved to Club Connect, which was renamed to New Radio World. A train station was built below the CC Entrance, which gave avies access to the other cities in NRW. Also, some changes occured in and around the Club Connect city. Here is the layout after the main locale shuffle when New Radio World was opened:

NW Corner Garden
Village Apartments
NE Corner Garden
XOOM.COM
Promise Park
Metaphysical Courtyard
Delphi.com
Promise Park
Frontiers
Event Center
Promise Park
Variations
Net Noir
CC Entrance
Libary
Serenity Park
Train Station Entrance
Topiary Park

The left side of Club Connect was later extended to reveal Reel.com, PlanetOut/Allegro Music, Cliffs Underground, Virtual Vineyards, Serenity Park and New Radio Star which never opened to the public.

Topiary Park was made into a partner area with a Paydoor (like Delphi and XOOMs). The train station allowed you to travel between cities, with the use of a very cool Bullet Train. Considering that the Hotel had just closed, Silicon Valley was the first city to be given the NRW treatment. Here are the city opening dates:

December 1998 - Silicon Valley, Detroit and Winter Wonderland
January 1999 - Commerce City and Phoenix
Febuary 1999 - Worldsaway Airport/Honolulu
March 1999 - Seattle
May 1999 - London
July 1999 - UFO Chat

After these city openings, the whole Train idea was dumped completely, and the layout of NRW was altered again.

VZConnections

Once again, the world was given a major makeover. Key locales were shifted around the cities and unused locales, such as commerce city and the event center were deleted. This is the layout of VZC:

NW Corner Garden

San Fransisco

Turf Furnishings

Engravings
Seattle

VZ Millions

In November 1999, San Fransisco opened along with VZHauntings for the halloween season. XOOM.com and the Hot Tubs were moved to SF.

December 1999, the Christmas locales opened up behind NE Corner Garden, and VZ Millions opened to celebrate the millennium. VZMillions was a huge set of locales, based on different themes. It was basically a portal world like VZConnections with its own small cities.

VZSci-Fi Opened, along with its own set of cities (only one was open).
VZ Millions closed down and a paint center was eventually built in its place.
Phoenix became the Desert Zone and Topiary Park formed with a set of locales taken from VZ Millions to form Park Zone.
A wedding chapel opened.
San Fransisco closed and the Game Zone opened in its place.

VZConnections last known layout was the most advanced to date, and was the easiest to navigate.

NW Corner Garden

But then, the cracks in the brickwork started to show; quite literally!

Lets do the timewarp again - not.

How crazy life gets when the members are given a little power...
A timewarp of catastrophic proportions hit the world 20th August 2001, as we prepared to make the leap from VZConnections, to newHorizone... the same world, plus improvements, on a more stable server.
Planned to last for three days, the timewarp gave members total freedom to do whatever they liked in the time between the world was 'saved' and the opening of NewHorizone. Novelty body changers were installed in Honolulu, allowing avies to change into chairs, oracles, animals... the world went insane. Caretakers went a bit crazy too, as they proceeded to paint the locales of VZC with hideous colors... oh, and the village lobby was transformed into a nightclub!
The first delay came... two more days and NH will be open. In that time, the staff 'duped' a plethora of accessories and items for the enjoyment of others. Locales began to flood with water, making way for ship-bodies.
The second delay hit VZ, and the unthinkable happened... we were given POWERS inworld! Unfortunately, this turned VZC into a battlefield, and it was quite difficult to remain unghosted AND unfrozen for more than 10 seconds at a time. Still, the ability to teleport made up for that... imagine 'ambushing' someone in their very own turf! Oh wait, thats mean...
After more delays, the disarming of the powers and the public opening of the guide lounge, NH finally opened on 2nd September 2001... much to the relief of others!

newHorizone

Hardly any difference to VZC layout-wise, NH was VZC with added scenery, vendos and locales.

Over time, alterations were made to this layout...

VZSciFi was closed due to lack of interest, and PLD took its place.
KVZN was moved in-between PLD and New York.
AOD closed down.
EZBoard replaced Delphi's role and location.
All shop-esque buildings (excl. paint store) were moved to the right hand side of the world, and turned into the "Market Place". Additional buildings were added here.
Some cities were moved from one side to the other, to make way for the marketplace.

Oh... and the illustrious Village Porch got a makeover! Although, it was not greeted with the greatest of enthusiasm.

Now in 2008, many more changes have occurred since with a higher enthasis being placed on Cities and Countries as opposed to small purposeful buildings. NA based/inspired cities such as New York, Seattle and Las Vegas are all placed down the left hand side of NH, whereas the international locations such as London, Venice and Sydney are located down the right-hand side. All the smaller buildings such as Engravings, Turf Furnishings etc were all moved from the hub to other cities, generating more traffic in these otherwise unused areas.
Controversially, photo backdrops were used to create some of the new locations, which don't quite fit in with the rest of the artwork.
