VZQuest consists a variety of different mythological/fictional abilities and creatures, which can be controlled by the players against each other. The majority of VZQuest is based on the Final Fantasy gaming series, using the same turn based system and features it grants its players. As you defeat more players you gain levels and become stronger, whilst also gaining more abilities you can use in order to one day become the best player…. VZQuest Terminology 2.1 HP- Hit Points, these are your life, if they run out you die and lose the battle, your objective is to keep you HP at a reasonable level but still be able to reduce your opponents HP to 0 or as low as possible. To restore HP you must either use a magical spell, HP restoration inner strength (see below) or a HP restoration item (see Items 2.9). MP- Magic Points, these are used-up when you perform a magical spell, call upon a guardian force or use a summon, you must have the required amount of MP to use the magical spell you choose. To restore MP you must use a MP restoration inner strength or MP restoration item. AP- Ability Points, these are used when you perform Blue Magic these can not be restored by any items or abilities so use them very wisely. Gil- Gil is the economy of the VZQuest world, completely fictional, it does not exist as an item, it is however, won from participating in battles and crucial for buying items, trading Materia off of other players and upgrading your weapons. EXP- Experience points, these are gained by participating in battles and are needed to gain levels. Materia- Materia is a special kind of stone, that when possessed by a person, gives them a certain special ability. In short, Materia is what you collect and gain from winning battles and what you need to perform each different magical spell, inner strength, summon, or command. Equippable Materia also helps you in other ways, by giving you immunities or other helping effects throughout the battle. Magic- This is an ability you can perform for the cost of MP, each magical spell has its own MP cost and does a different task. Magic is split into 2 Area’s Black Magic and White Magic. Black Magic calls upon dark forces to hurt your opponent or change their status (See Status Changes 4.5), White Magic however, calls upon the holy forces to cure your player or harm your opponent. Summons- A summon is a kind of magical spell which calls upon the powers of a certain creature (or creatures) to aid you in battle, each summon performs a different task and has a different MP Cost. Blue Magic- Blue Magic are abilities which you can perform for the cost of AP, these can: restore HP/MP, hurt your opponent, hurt yourself, change your status or change your opponents status. These can be both permanent changes or for a set period of time. Commands- Commands are a very special type of Materia, although they must be equipped in order to use them, they can grant the player great abilities in battle, and at no cost of MP or AP. Items- Items are bought using Gil and are consumed after use, each item does a different task and costs a different amount of Gil, see Items 2.9 for a list of them and their abilities. Guardian Forces- Guardian Forces, or GF’s are extremely strong creatures who you CONTROL during battle. They use MP to do devastating moves, which damage your opponent and are won by defeating bosses. Battling Opponents 2.2 VZQuest is after all a battling game so battles are obviously the main bulk of the game, battles take place between two players who are at the same level (if a player is higher they can de-level). The host then will start the program and the program will pick a random starter, each player will then be ESPed by the host with their status, this will including their HP, MP, AP, Limit Bar and Status Effects please note THESE SHOULD BE KEPT SECRET, if you opponent finds out your stats they have a big advantage over you… so don’t tell anyone! Each player will then take turns using their player card, to attack the opponent or help themselves using their abilities. This turn based battling will continue until one of the players HP is reduced to 0, when this happens, the other player wins! The winner of the match will receive a Materia, a certain amount of Gil and a certain amount of EXP (see Leveling-Up 2.5). The loser of the battle also receives Gil and EXP but of a smaller quantity, so you really have NOTHING to lose by playing, in fact you can only gain! Player Types 2.3 When you create your account you are given a choice of player types, each player type has different features such as different weapons and limit breaks, so your choice will greatly affect your fighting style… so make sure you make the right choice. The choices you have are as follows: Brawler: A Brawler uses gloves as a weapon and mainly uses physical fighting in order to hurt the opponent, their Limit Break reflects this and is a physical attack against the opponent. Brawlers defense is slightly higher than some of the other players. Beast: A Beast uses claws to damage their opponent. Because of their beastlike nature they also have 5% more HP than the regular fighter, and their Limit Breaks use their sharp claws to slash away at their opponent. Black Mage: As the name suggests a Black Mage uses mainly Black Magic to hurt their opponent, as their weapon they use Voodoo Dolls possessed with the spirits of famous (or infamous) Vzones members to damage their opponents physically, They also do more damage with their Black Magic than a regular fighter and their Limit Breaks either strongly damage their opponent, or drain them of some vital HP/MP. Blue Mage: Blue Mages, well you guessed it they use Blue Magic to damage their opponent, Blue Mages use spears and lances to damage their opponents physically and get slightly more AP than the regular fighter. Gambler: Gamblers use Megaphones to damage their opponents, they also have a higher luck than other fighters, and their limit break Slot Machine, can do a variety of things, including instant death…. To both you or your opponent! Gourmet: Feeling puckish? Gourmets uses forks to damage their opponents physically and curative items take more effect on them, their limit breaks range from a little fork stab to instant death via cannibalism! Healer: Healers of course heal for more with magical spells, they can physically hurt their opponents using rods, and their limit break can cure them, or damage the opponent. Morpher: Ahhh the inner beast, yes as a morpher, your limit break turns you into a raging monster, of which you have no control, but their power is astonishing. Out of beast form, they use Handguns to damage their opponents physically and they also have slightly more HP than the regular fighter. Ninja: Ninjas use knives to damage their opponent physically, they also get limits faster than the regular fighter, and their limits do high damage to their opponent. Sharpshooter: Bows and arrows? Nope, Sharpshooters use Gatling Guns to damage their opponent physically, Sharpshooters are immune to some status effects and their limit can severely hurt their opponent. Summoner: Summoners use staffs to damage their opponent physically, but their main plus point is the fact that their summons do more damage than usual, plus their limit gives them a free summon of their choice. Swordsmaster: Yes its Zorro himself, well not quite, Swordsmasters use heavy swords to inflict high damage on their opponent, yes high damage, even higher than normal fighters, plus their limit break is a very strong attack.. purely for the slash-em up lovers. Warrior: Warriors use Katana’s to inflict damage on their opponents, their defence is also better than the average fighter and their limits do high physical damage. White Mage: White Mages use Magical Rings to physically damage their opponents and also get more MP than usual so they can perform more spells, their limit break uses the holy powers to damage the enemy in all kinds of ways. Levelling-Up 2.4 Levelling-Up happens when you get enough EXP required for your next level. You get EXP by participating in a battle, winner and loser both get EXP so levelling up will happen…. Sooner or later! And when you do level up, you will, get more HP more MP more AP and be able to do more damage! So it really is a good thing. Weapon Upgrading 2.5 As you level up, you will be able to handle stronger weapons, and your friendly host, Metal Edd can upgrade them for you…. At a small cost of Gil, below is a list of costs and level requirements for each of the weapons: Accounts and Trading 2.6 Every VZQuest player gets an account, in this account his or her Gil, EXP, Level, Character Type, Weapon, Owned Materia and owned items are all shown. VZQuest members can also trade Materia and Gil with each other, which means you can trade for those Materia’s you just could not get. This section of the FAQ will give you some hints on what to do in battle or what not to do. I do not claim that this is the best way to fight, but its what I believe can help, and if your new to the game, you may as well give it a try….. you have nothing to lose. Limit Breaks 4.1 Limit breaks are one of the strongest attacks I the game. When your limit bar is full you can perform one of these, each different character type, has different limit breaks but usually they are a very powerful attack. My advice on limit breaks is to save them, until your opponent is so low on HP that it should defeat them in 1 Hit. Using a limit break when your low on health is also not a very good idea. Why? Because if it does not kill your opponent they can attack you! Status change limit breaks can be used at anytime however, as they will give you an advantage all the way through, healing limit breaks also should be saved till you really NEED to heal. Using Magic 4.2 Attacking over and over again with your weapon is not just boring, but also ineffective, MP and AP is given to you free of charge at the beginning of a battle so don’t be scared to use it, but however do use it at the RIGHT time. MP is used for black and white magic, the most important spell I believe is the Cure trio, without these you are going to really struggle. MP can be restored by items, but Cures have limits, you can only cure 2 times in a battle, so make sure you only use a Cure if you really need to. Other spells can be used as many times as you wish, and each do different things. Try experimenting with your Materia and decide what you find the best to use. Blue Magic uses AP and it can not be restored, I repeat can NOT be restored, Blue Magic can help you greatly in battle however, it can damage the opponent, restore MP and HP, cure status changes and even inflict them on your opponent or good ones on yourself. Using Items 4.3 Items you buy with Gil and so are limited by how many you have or can afford. The less items you use the better, but using lots of items will only hurt your bank balance and you will have to pay to get them back. So if your rich don’t worry! But if not just watch what your using. My advice is to keep at least 3 Tinctures, Potions and Remedies in your account, its better safe than sorry. Status Changes 4.4 Status Changes can be a great assistance in a battle Good status changes on yourself can make you stronger and more powerful, and bad status changes on your opponent can restrict their attacks, or hurt them in some other way. One important thing to remember about status changes is, they CAN be Dispelled, Esuna’d or Remedied away, so you have to weigh up the pros and cons of it, you decide what you will use, and what you will avoid.
